Till We've Won
This new print is about the Trinity Site Downwinders here in New Mexico. Trinity, the world’s first nuclear bomb, was detonated in New Mexico one month before the bombing of Hiroshima.Thousands of New Mexicans — mostly Hispanic and Native American — were exposed to catastrophic levels of radioactive fallout. They were never warned, never acknowledged and never helped afterward.Generations of cancers followed. As of a 2010 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study, radiation around some homes in the testing area remains at almost 10,000 times what is currently allowed in public areas.
There is still a chance to get the vote passed in Washington DC to expand the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA S3853 ) to include NM, MT, CO, ID, AZ, UT and Guam ! Call Speaker Mike Johnson (202-225-4000) the votes are actually there and the president has said he will sign ! It was an honor to meet Tina Cordova this evening and the whole crew that’s been working on this health and justice issue for so long !
The print is an edition of 15, 12 in x 12 in , reduction linocut, oil inks , Kitikata paper ,
